Pharaohs Bow To Uruguay Following Stoppage Time Goal

A second-half stoppage time goal by Uruguayan player Jose Gimenez was enough to shatter the hearts of the Pharoahs of Egypt as they lost their opening game of the 2018 FIFA world cup in Group A.

The Egyptians, playing without their star player Mohammed Salah, were able to soak the pressure from Uruguay for most of the game with goalkeeper Mohammed El-Shenawy making some fantastic saves which prevented goals from Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.

However, the stoppage time corner kick by the South Americans was not properly dealt with by the defence which gave Gimenez the chance to rise above every other person in the 18-yard box to score with a well-placed header.

Uruguay is now level on 3 points with Russia who lead group A with a + 5 goal advantage.
