Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram earlier today returned 105 abducted schoolgirls from Government Girls Science Technical College in Dapchi town, Yobe state.
Sources who spoke to Sahara Reporters claim the girls, abducted from the school compound a few weeks ago, were brought back by the insurgents in 9 vehicles in pretty much the same way they took them away.
It is understood that there was pandemonium in the area as members of the community scampered into the bush as the terror group appeared, first dropping off one the girls in a nearby village and then driving into the center of Dapchi town to drop off the rest of the girls.
A resident of the area said people ran out of fear as the terrorists reappeared.
“Boko Haram just returned the kidnapped girls this morning. They brought them back in the same set of vehicles which they used in conveying them last month,” the resident said.
“People are scared because they do not know what the insurgents are up to.”
Sadly, five of the kidnapped girls are dead.
Their release comes bare days after President Muhammadu Buhari visited the area and promised to do all within his powers to ensure the safe return of the girls.
It is not yet clear if the Nigerian government paid any ransom to get the girls released.
