Toke Makinwa is giving a healthy advice to all the married men out there, wife is scarce, take good care of your wife and fight for your marriage.
Drama started after a tweeter shared a story of a man whose wife got pregnant for another man, and as usual, the story stirred misogynist reactions on social media. However, things changed when OAP, Gbemi Olateru and Toke Makinwa changed the conversation by advising the man to endure and forgive the cheating woman, just as society often expects the woman to endure philanderers.
“Eyah, he should fight for his marriage. Keep his home. Pray, fast and watch War Room,” said Gbemi, and Toke took this to a whole new length as she began by blaming the aggrieved man.
“This is a deep issue o, maybe he was focused on his career and was always going out,” she said. “Maybe the man outside is the innocent looking one, does not have swag, easy going and natural. Maybe he needs to hit the gym fast, cook for her, take care of the kids etc… whatever he decides, he should just accept the child.”
She continued, noting that this was same thing she was told when her ex-husband, Maje Ayida, cheated on her and got his mistress pregnant.
“The other man will always be an outsider, it was a mistake, after all it is him she married, he is the legal husband. He should fight for his marriage, forgive her, dem no Dey throway wife o, where will he start from? Wife scarce for market,” Toke ended his message to the aggrieved man.
Her reaction got a lot of people rolling on the floor. However, it shows the depth of inequality in our society, where a woman is expected to endure philandering but she is crucified if she was the cheater.
Makinwa’s post has drawn thousands of reactions, with many Nigerian women chirping in their personal advise to the unidentified man. While the reactions come off as hilarious, they have highlighted that double standard that needs to be changed in our society.
