Nigerian Home-Based Super Eagles have flown into the Semi-Finals of the African Nations Championship after defeating the Atlas Lions of Morocco by 4 goals to 3.
The Super Eagles who appeared to be in charge of the game at the beginning lost focus, and the Atlas Lions wasted no time in punishing them by scoring 3 goals within 7 minutes by the 40th minutes of the game. The Super Eagles couldnt muster any goal throughout the rest of the First-Half.
But the story changed at the begining of the Second-Half as Ugonna Uzochukuwu scored just four minutes into the second half. Rabiu Ali added another goal at the 55th minute of the game. Just when all hopes of equalising seemed lost for the Eagles at the 90th minute, Ejike Uzoenyi scored the equalizer.
The match went into Extra Time with fatigue telling on the pace of the game. That didn’t stop the Moroccans and the Nigerians from creating good scoring opportunities they couldn’t convert to goals.
In the Second Half of the Extra Time, Nasarawa United’s Abubakar Ibrahim broke the tie by converting a chance into a goal, and the Match ended 4-3 in favour of Nigeria.
The Super Eagles will now play in the Semi-Finals of the tournament on the 29th of this Month.
