Waliyah – Siwaju (Prod. SARZ) | Shut It Down (Prod. TY Mix)
“Waliyah is an emerging Singer songwriter with a unique flair and passion for music.
Not entirely new to the music scene, Waliyah has been writing songs for 8 years. In 2011 she headlined a self-promoted, self-organised sold out concert at London’s Jazz Café. She self-released her first Afro-pop single “Ejekajo” last November under her own record label, and the video can still be seen on Soundcity and Channel O.
Waliyah’s slowly been working her way up the Nigerian music scene having shared the stage earlier this year with Tiwa Savage, Omawunmi, Nneka at LoudNProud Live Series and supported Tuface at Nigeria House in Stratford UK, where she sang her Olympic song ‘IT’S TIME’. In 2012 she wrote and performed the BBC approved Olympic UK single “It’s Time” which was critically acclaimed by the likes of Coca Cola (The Olympic sponsors) and Patrick Leonard ( Grammy award winning Super-producer of Madonna’s albums). Fans include Quincy Jones, Funmi Iyanda and Charlie Sloth (BBC Radio 1Xtra).
This year started off on a high with an energetic series of performances including the Ovation Red Carol, Rhythm Unplugged and launch of her latest single ‘Ejekajo’. She also gained the interest of the Nigerian audience after been aired on MTV, Studio 53 Extra, Channel 0, Silverbird Television, Nigezie, Soundcity and played on radio (Beat 99, Cool FM, City Fm etc). Waliyah was also spotted in several national newspapers ( Punch, City People) and magazines ( Genevieve, Ovation).
Not just a pretty face, this multi faceted artist is also a Chemical engineering Masters graduate with a sideline in Investment Banking.
After working with some of Nigeria’s best producers, she’s back and ready to take centre stage with the brand new singles “Siwaju” ( Produced by Sarz) and Shut It Down ( Produced by Tee Y Mix). Check them out now.”
