Lagos lawyer, Festus Keyamo has appealed to the kidnappers of human rights lawyer, Mike Ozekhome to release him. Ozekhome was abducted by suspected kidnappers in Edo State, in mid-western Nigeria around 3:30 pm on Friday. Keyamo, in a statement said he received with shock the news of the kidnap of Ozekhome, along the Benin- Auchi Road.

“I want to personally appeal to the kidnappers or their sponsors (if any), to kindly consider that Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, has a family that rely on him, both nuclear and extended, and even other dependants in the society. I also appeal to them not to harm him in anyway. In the name of God that we all serve, they should please release him to re-unite with his family,” he appealed.
Ozekhome was said to be on his way to his hometown, Auchi when he was kidnapped. Three other persons who were travelling in a motorcade with Ozekhome were also taken along. Four police officers, including an assistant superintendent of police and an inspector, were killed in their bid to rescue the kidnap victims.
The kidnappers laid ambush for their vehicle and shot at them.
