I was listening to a radio programme sometimes last month when one Sports Analyst lamented the deplorable state of the National Stadium in Abuja. I didn’t understand his plight until I saw the picture in this post myself. This is an epitome of terrible maintenance culture.
This is the sorry state of what used to be, arguably, the best Stadium in Africa after the 2003 All African Games hosted in Abuja. This was the stadium which hosted the games which took billions of Naira with it. It is now playing turf for Lizards and Rodents.
If no action is taken soonest, hunters will soon turn it into their center of killing games as it will soon turn to home for animals like antelope, grasscutters and the likes. If you are reading this and you know someone at the Glass House (NFF) or the Sports Ministry, help inform them because they might even not know this.
I shake my head for #NigerianFootball
