Atletico Madrid To Report Barcelona To Fifa Over Illegal Transfer Approach For Antoine Griezmann
Atletico Madrid will complain to FIFA over an alleged approach from Barcelona to forward Antoine Griezmann
Antoine Griezmann has been linked with several of the biggest clubs in Europe but signed a new deal with Atletico in June, which will keep him with the club until 2022.
However, according to reports, Atletico are claiming Barca have made contact with people close to the 26-year-old France international.
“If Bartomeu met with Griezmann’s family as the newspapers say, then there may well have been an approach,” Guillermo Amor admitted. “Though, I don’t know anything for sure.
“There is a good relationship, there can also be comfortable conversations. Rumours are inevitable in the football world.
“In Griezmann’s case there are many people we talk to; it’s our obligation to have contact with players.”
Barcelona are currently top of the La Liga table, six points clear of Atletico in second.
Barca striker Luis Suarez spoke of his hope to play alongside the France international should he make the switch next summer.
‘Both Griezmann and (Liverpool’s Philippe) Coutinho are elite players that are playing at the top level,’ the Uruguay star told RAC105.
‘They are where they are for a reason. They’re both young and have long careers ahead of them. And Barca always want the best players.’
He added: ‘Griezmann would come here to add to the team and to help the side in the position that the coach wants him to play in.’
