ANATOMY OF TRUST

What is trust? Choosing to make something important to you vulnerable to the action of someone else. What is distrust ?  What I have shared with you that is important to me is not safe with you. – Asking for help is more trusting than giving help.

– Opportunity to trust & betray happen at the same time.
– Trust is built in very small moments.
– Self-Trust: If you cant count on yourself, you cant ask other people to give you what you dont have.

If you find yourself in struggle with trust, the thing to examine is yourself, because we cant ask people to give us something we are not worthy of receiving.

Parts of Trust (BRAVING)
Boundaries – Making clear & respecting each others boundaries.
Reliability – I will only trust you if you do only what you say you are going to do over and over again , not just once.
Accountability – I can only trust you if when you make a mistake, you are willing to OWN it, APOLOGIZE for it, make AMENDS.
Vault – What i share with you, you will hold in confidence. What you share with me i will hold in confidence. (This is also includes you gossiping about others to me) {Gossiping- common enemy intimacy}.
Integrity – choosing courage over comfort, choosing whats right over whats fun/fast/easy. (Practising your values not just professing your values.
Non-Judgement – i can be in a struggle, fall apart and ask for help without been judged by you & you can do the same.
Generosity – A relationship is only a trusting relationship if you can assume the most generous thing about my words, intentions, behaviours and then check in with me.

African proverb: “Be wary of a naked man offering you his shirt”
