Premier League clubs have voted to close summer transfer windows before first game of next season. It means the 2018 window will close at 5pm on the Thursday before start of season.
The new rule, which was reached by a majority decision, only applies to buying players – clubs will still have ability to sell players to other leagues in which their window is open.
Transfer windows in January are unaffected, as too are windows for other competitions in English football – Championship, League One and League Two – until EFL decides otherwise (and they meet later this month).
Several major sides saw their start to the campaign disrupted by transfer sagas, including Liverpool with Philippe Coutinho and Arsenal with Alexis Sanchez.
