How NAF Fighter Jets killed Boko Haram Leaders In Air Raid

The Nigerian Air Force has reportedly killed an undisclosed number of Boko Haram leaders during a raid on the Sambisa Forest hideout of the insurgents.

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in a statement on Tuesday, August 23, that the leader of the group, ‘Abubakar Shekau’ was seriously wounded on the shoulders during the raid.

Usman, who reportedly listed the killed Boko Haram leaders to include Abubakar Mubi, Mallam Nuhu and Mallam Hamman, amongst others, added that several others were wounded.

He said fighter pilots of the NAF carried out the raid on August 19,2016 when the insurgents were performing Friday rituals at Taye village,  Gombale general area within the Sambisa Forest, Borno State.

However, Usman was silent on whether or not the affected Boko Haram leaders were among those on the 100 most wanted list of the group released by the military.

He said, “We have just confirmed that as a result of the interdiction efforts of the Nigerian Air Force, some key leaders of the Boko Haram terrorists have been killed while others were fatally wounded.

“The air interdiction took place last week Friday,  August 19, 2016, while the terrorists were performing Friday rituals at Taye village,  Gombale general area within Sambisa forest, Borno State.

“Those Boko Haram terrorists commanders confirmed dead include Abubakar Mubi, Mallam Nuhu and Mallam Hamman, amongst others. While their leader, so called “Abubakar  Shekau,” is believed to be fatally wounded on his shoulders. Several other terrorists were also wounded.”
