British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran popular for his hit song ‘Thinking out Loud’ has been sued for $20m by Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard, and their publishing company HaloSongs for his  hit song “Photograph” claiming it was copied from them.
The 25-year-old singer is being sued for $20 million in damages by the duo, who believe the hit song borrowed heavily from their original ‘Amazing’.
According to Harrington and Leonardo, their  single was sung by Matt Cardle, the winner of the 2010 season of The X Factor and in exclusive court documents obtained by E! News, claim that the song’s similarities reach the very essence of the work, the similarities go beyond substantial, which is itself sufficient to establish copyright infringement, and are in fact striking.”
Busch, lawyers to Harrington and Leonardo told NBC News, “My clients are professional songwriters. Their work is their life and I am honored that they have trued me with this very important case. We set out the facts in the lawsuit in great detail.”
