‘Controversy Makes Me Richer’- Foluke Daramola On Recent Social Media Drama Over Gender Inequality Bill
A few days ago, Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola was involved in a messy fight on social media with some feminists over her opinion on the raging conversation about the Gender Equality Bill.
In her interview with media house New Telegraph, Foluke had stated that she believes men deserve more rights than women, adding that she had no issues with the Nigerian Senate voting against the Gender and Equal Opportunity Bill.
“I’m sorry I don’t think men and women should have equal rights in this case. I think the male should have more than the female, but it should be with proportion, maybe on a ration of 60 to 40.” she had stated. This sparked an outrage amongst some feminists who attacked her on Instagram, insulting her marriage and intelligence.
Well, Foluke has finally addressed the whole drama and according to her, she intentionally started the fire. In an interview with Saturday Bants, the actress disclosed that she has realised such drama only strengthens her brand and gets her more money.

“The backlash is nothing to me, I just wanted to drive home a point. The funny thing is that things like that increase my fan base. If there was no conflict, no one would go to my page to find out what is going on. It makes my account more active and the more the merrier for me. Don’t forget that I am a brand, when things like that happen, it is more money for me. It is an advantage to me.”
Still maintaining her stance on the gender inequality bill, she said that the role of a man can never be de-emphasised to the role of a woman.
“Hillary and Bill Clinton cannot be the president of the US at the same time. Bill Clinton had to teach her the grinds and she followed suit. The bible says that the man would love the woman and she would submit and respect the man. That position can never be overemphasised. I just wanted to drive some message home”
