A businessman, Mr Emmanuel Godwin, on Monday prayed a Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, to annul his two-year-old marriage over his wife’s alleged disrespectful conduct.
Mr. Godwin of Tudun Wada, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, told the court that his marriage with Sarah, contracted in 2014 has not produced any child.
He also told the court that all his efforts at making his wife happy and make the marriage work did not change her disrespectful behavior towards him.
He, therefore, prayed the court to grant them a divorce so that he can have peace of mind and also have ‘happy times’, which he said his wife does not give him at home.
“My wife and I always have misunderstanding and she never respects me as her husband, so why should I keep living with someone like that?
“I am just tired of the union and I pray the court to grant my wish of divorce”, he added.
Denying the allegations, Sarah told the court that she was not ready to divorce her husband as she still loves him and sought for more time at possible reconciliation.
“I was surprised when I got the court summon because he never told me anything that has to do with divorce.
“I pray the court to give us more time to try and reconcile, I don’t want to lose my husband”, Sarah said.
The Judge, Mr Albert Maga, directed Sarah to visit her parents-in-law, along with her parents, for possible reconciliation.
Maga adjourned the case till Jan. 13, for the report of settlement or judgment. (NAN)
