The acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, has warned the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government against meddling in the affairs of the judiciary especially as it concerns Election Petitions in PDP states.
He gave the warning at a one-day National Conference of the PDP, which held at the Thisday Dome in Abuja on Thursday.
“Enough is enough!” Secondus declared. “Let it be clear that the people of Nigeria and PDP members would stand resolutely against any attempt to constrain our cherished freedoms under the rule of law”.
Mr. Secondus said the PDP was the “most valued democratic asset in Nigeria today”, alleging that was the main reason behind the APC’s resolve to destroy the party.
Tasking delegates to the conference on the need to consider the challenging circumstances the PDP had found itself and the commitment of the leadership to reorganize and reposition it, the acting national chair said:
“We must be determined to ensure that we resist the temptation to continue in the blame game; to make sure that selfish interests do not divide us and give the ruling Party the leeway to realize their goals.
“The future of our great party is bright”.
Many speakers at the conference hailed the Secondus-led National Working Committee of the party for steadying the ship of the PDP since its embarrassing defeat at the 2015 presidential election.
The conference, in Resolution 9, specifically lauded the tenacity, commitment and dedication of the NWC at this trying time in the history of the party.
