Few days after Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) fined MTN $5.2bn for failing to cut off unregistered SIM cards, the Africa’s biggest mobile phone firm has been suspended by South Africa’s Stock Exchange, as its stock fell by 8%.

This is coming after it was rumoured that MTN has agreed to pay the fine.

The MTN’s Chief Executive, Sifiso Dabengwa, has reportedly been in Abuja trying to negotiate some sort of reduction to the fine.
