The Adamawa State Government has placed an indefinite ban on night markets in Yola, the state capital, following Tuesday evening’s deadly bomb explosion at a fruit and vegetable market in the Jimeta area of the state capital.
The explosion killed 32 people and left 80 others wounded, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed on Wednesday.
Announcing the ban in an interview with journalists in Yola, Governor Mohammadu Jibrilla said the measure was part of decisions taken at an emergency security meeting at Government House.
He said all business premises that attracted crowds, particularly night markets, were expected to close by 6 p.m.
The Adamawa governor urged those affected by the ban to show understanding as such measures were imperative to save lives and property.
