Nigeria Immigration ServiceA senior official of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has dragged his employer, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) to court.

The officer, Chief Superintendent of Immigration (CSI) Daniel Makolo, was accused of being a Boko Haram sympathizer and was detained without trial by the DSS for 21 days.

He also raised the alarm over a plot to eliminate him for allegedly uncovering shady dealings in the immigration service.

According to Makolo, who was formerly attached to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, he was arrested and detained with some of his colleagues by the DSS in late 2012 over allegations by the Nigeria Immigration Service that they aided the entry of a terror kingpin, Abdul Rahman, into the country.

In a fundamental rights enforcement suit he filed before the Federal High Court, Abuja, the immigration official said that the allegation was aimed at eliminating him because he had queried some alleged unlawful and fraudulent activities of some senior management personnel of the NIS.
