The Kenny Oshadipe’ Walk against Lupus was on Saturday, Oct. 3 honoured by actress, Halima Abubakar and others. Kenny organized the walk to mark one year memorial of her twin sister, Taiwo Oshadipe, who died of Lupus inflammatory disease.
To immortalize Taiwo, Kenny has decided to launch a non-profit making and non-governmental organization to educate and sensitize the public about the dreaded new discovery in town. Tagged, “The Oshadipe Twins Initiative”-TOTI, the NGO is formed to advocate, promote, educate, research and sensitize the public, mostly young women who’re prone to the disease and with the ultimate aim of supporting those already living with and suffering from the disease.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system produces antibodies to cells within the body leading to widespread inflammation and tissue damage.
Any part of the body can be affected by lupus as it has an array of clinical manifestations affecting the skin, joints, brain, lungs, kidneys, blood vessels and other internal organs.
