Lupita Nyong’o has recently revealed in an interview with People.com that she wants to take on a comedic role. The Academy Award-winning Kenyan actress, who is starring in three upcoming Disney movies, shared this at the D23 EXPO on Saturday, 15 August. “I’m really dying to be in a comedy,” she said. “I’d love to be in a love story!”
Lupita (32) is not without work though; she is starring in 2015’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’, as well as 2016’s ‘The Jungle Book’ and ‘The Queen of Katwe’.
“I’ve been lucky to work so extensively with Disney. Star Wars is another world altogether, and to be able to have that experience and be a part of that continuation of Han Solo and Luke and Leia’s journey is really a blessing.” On her role in Jungle book she said, “Playing the mother of [Mowgli], and the love between a human and a wolf was something really cool to explore.” About her third movie she said, “Queen of Katwe, which is in our real world, and again is a magical and real story of a girl who had a dream to be a chess master and through hard work and complete commitment to it she went against all odds and achieved that and that’s something I really believe in.”
In addition to all of this, she has also been reported to be producing the movie to Chimamanda Adichie Ngozi’s novel ‘Americanah’. And in June (2015) it was announced that she would be leading the cast of Danai Gurira’s off-Broadway stage production, “Eclipsed”.
