The recent cycle of violence between Israel and the Palestinians has shown little sign of slowing down. Neither has the outpouring of grief in the two countries.
Earlier in the hours of today, Israeli forces launched a series of up to 50 aerial and naval strikes on the Hamas-ruled territory and killed about six and injured close to 25 others.
Israelis have been angered by the deaths of the three Jewish teens who went missing in the occupied West
Bank nearly a month ago. Israel claims the Jewish youths were killed by Hamas militants, an allegation the Islamist group has neither accepted nor denied.
On the other side, Palestinians have been up in arms over the murder of a teenager burnt to death in a Jerusalem forest last week.
Israeli President Shimon Peres spoke to the press.
“We cannot compromise with death, we cannot compromise with rockets, we cannot compromise with this sort of behaviour and we shall stop them,” he said.
Hamas activists are believed to have launched a number of rockets into Israel on Monday before Israel retaliated in the early hours of today.
