Adamawa State Governor, Alhaji Murtala Nyako has been impeached. The impeachment was carried out on
Tuesday by the state House of Assembly.
Following Nyako’s impeachment, the Speaker state House of Assembly, Umaru Fintiri has become the acting governor pending when election is held to fill the seat.
Earlier, Deputy Governor, Bala Ngilari had opted to resign rather than being impeached.
The action is a culmination of the impeachment tussle between the Governor and the state House of Assembly, which began last month.
Both Nyako and Ngilari failed to honour the invitation of the panel to defend themselves last Friday, which saw them being probed in absentia by the panel set up by the state Chief Judge at the behest of the House.
Both men were accused of gross misappropriation of funds.
