Manchester City manager, Manuel Pellegrini, has showered praises on Nigerian youngster Kelechi Iheanacho and described him as an important part of the club’s future.
Iheanacho put in a man-of-the-match display for the Citizens on Thursday in a 4-1 win over Major League Soccer (MLS) leaders, Sporting Kansas City in a pre- season game decided at the Sporting Park, Kansas City, Kansas.
The 17-year-old scored who substituted after his goal in the 88th minute and was only denied a hat-trick by the heroics of the Kansas City goalkeeper, Andy Gruenebaum, who produced saves out of the top drawer to deny the extravagantly gifted former Golden Eaglets star.
The coach of the side, Pellegrini was however impressed and predicted a big future for Iheanacho.
“Kelechi is just 17 years old and he’s a very important player for us in the future,” Pellegrini said in his post- match press conference.
