A wonderstrike from David Luiz helped Brazil to a 2-1 World Cup quarter-final win over Colombia – but star forward Neymar was stretchered off in the closing minutes.
Brazil saw off Colombia’s fightback as they progressed to a World Cup semi-final against Germany thanks to goals from Thiago Silva and David Luiz.
The hosts took an early lead when Neymar’s corner found captain Silva, who guided the ball in with his knee.
Brazil added a second shortly after the hour mark when Luiz struck a brilliant free-kick from long range. Colombia reduced the deficit when James Rodriguez converted from the penalty spot but Brazil hung on.
