Algeria’s Djamel Haimoudi has been confirmed as the referee for match 63 of the FIFA World Cup™, the match for third place between Brazil and the Netherlands.
The North African becomes the first official from CAF to handle a third place match at the World Cup Algerian referee Djamel Haimoudi will handle the World Cup third place match between Brazil and the Netherlands on Saturday night.
The 43-year-old was in charge of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final match between Nigeria and Burkina in Johannesburg.
Haimoudi oversaw two matches in last year’s FIFA Confederations Cup and he was selected for the FIFA Club World Cup 2012 and the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2011.
Haimoudi also has notable experience in his confederation CAF taking charge of three editions of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008, 2012 and 2013.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria won that encounter 1-0 and goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama tried to lift the referee on his shoulders at the blast final whistle out of sheer joy.
